21 STUDENTS SHOT AT NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
21 students were shot (5 fatally with 2 more in critical condition) by former student Steven Kazmierczak at Northern Illinois University on Valentine’s Day.
In response to the tragedy, Gun Owners of America Executive Director Larry Pratt, says students should be allowed to carry guns with them to school.
Pratt, who runs the nation’s second largest gun rights organization, said, “Students and teachers need to be able to get a “conceal and carry” permit and bring their guns to campus.”
Responding to critics who view Pratt’s position as being highly irresponsible, Pratt quotes eye-opening statistics, saying, “People who have concealed carry permits have the lowest violent crime rate of any group of the population.”
During your Talk Show interview with Larry Pratt he asks, “When will we learn that being defenseless is a bad defense?”
Pratt reminds your listeners, “All of the school shootings that were abruptly thwarted in the last ten years were because a law-abiding citizen -- a potential victim -- had a gun.”
During your Talk Show interview, Larry Pratt gives compelling statistics, including that Pollsters have found that 85% of Americans would find it appropriate for a school principal or teacher to use “a gun at school to defend the lives of students” to stop a school massacre (Research 2000 poll).
